Sri Lanka Film School aims to produce film directors, scriptwriters, cinematographers, editors and sound designers who will have abreast of technical and aesthetic principles of filmmaking through a teaching-learning process that enriches the student with practice, and a strong conceptual and theoretical framework.

The first ever three-year long higher National Diploma on Filmmaking conducted by Sri Lanka Film School (SLFS) of the Sri Lanka Foundation - (SLF) will cover all the aesthetic and technical areas of filmmaking.
The course covers the main areas of filmmaking including film direction, screenplay writing, cinematography, lighting, editing and sound designing. It will also extensively educate on different genres of cinema, art direction, political history, literary developments in the world, the history of art in the world, architecture, philosophy, psychological analysis and music. Internationally awarded filmmaker Sanjeewa Pushpakumara is the director of the course and the panel of lecturers include senior filmmakers and experts on cinema. The Sri Lanka Film School is the first education institute completely dedicated to teaching cinema. .
Film Appreciation Program
The SLFS hopes to introduce a certificate course on film appreciation for the moviegoers.
